Define - Area of improvement: plastic waste reduction and shift toward recycling. Measure - Reduction in HDPE purchased based on output and reduction of waste removal charges versus cost of resources required to operate the recycling program.

defects due to contamination of plastic from dirt, dust, oil, etc. Could cause inconsistency during the molding process. Improve - Further enclose the process to keep contaminants out and have catch systems in place to collect waste plastics so that they do not hit the
floor.
Products that hit the ground should be considered contaminated and should not be put into recycling operation. Test to see if more defects are occurring after use of recycled plastics.
Control - Enforce recycling policy among employees, specifically with regard to sources of contaminants. Maintain defect counts to ensure the process is functioning as it should within acceptable ranges.
Continuous process improvement requirements:
The continued use of ISO 9000 standards
The adoption of ISO 14000 standards
Six Sigma training for employees
Usage of TQM tools
