I believe it is important to educate the youth about methamphetamine. It is extremely addictive. It is also very easy to manufacture which makes it all the more dangerous.

What does this drug do to the brain, and what are its shortterm and longterm effects on the brain, the rest of the body, or the mind? Write at least 3 sentences on this topic that seventh graders could understand.
In the short term, methamphetamine creates a false send of wellbeing and energy. This causes a person will push heir body much farther than it is meant to go. This causes drug user to experience a severe “crash” or physical/mental breakdown after the effects of the drugs wear off. Continued usage of the drug decreases natural feelings of hunger, users sometimes experience extreme weight loss. Other negative effects can also include:
Disturbed sleep patterns, hyperactivity, nausea, panic,delusions of power, increased aggressiveness and irritability.
More serious effects can include: Insomnia, confusion, hallucinations, anxiety, and paranoia. In some cases, these convulsions can lead to death. In the long term, usage of methamphetamine can cause irreversible harm, such as: Increased heart rate and blood pressure; damaged blood vessels in the brain that can cause strokes or an irregular heart beat that can cause cardiovascular collapse or death; liver, kidney, and lung damage; breathing problems (if smoked), infectious diseases and abscesses (if injected); destruction of tissues in nose (if sniffed); severe tooth decay, psychosis, and
depression..
