There are speculations about how it could be that he is in love with Desdemona and wants to take her from Othello. Others of how he’s jealous of Othello because of all of the things that he has like, the position of general, recognition for his accomplishments, and also about his beautiful wife. One that is a bit unusual and hard to believe would be the theory that Iago in some way actually loves Othello in a homosexual way, and that is why he gets Othello to kill Desdemona, and kill Cassio to get him out of the picture as well. The fact that he is a dark skinned man who is dating the daughter of the duke, and also the fact that he is in charge of the whole war that is going on at the time against Turks. Knowing that the character Rodrigo is in love of Desdemona and is jealous of Othello because she’s chosen Othello over himself. Iago speaks with Rodrigo about how he also hates Othello and convinces him to join forces with him in order to bring Othello down and take everything from him. Iago soon after gets others that are some of the top leaders to go against Othello and show him how much some of the leaders don not like him bay calling him an animal , and other very awful things to his face.
