Othello is a play written by William Shakespeare written in approximately 1603. It is about a tragic hero named Othello who eloped with his wife Desdemona. Since Othello is a black general from Africa, many characters have many different perceptions of their marriage. Characters have these different perspectives, because the couple is interracially marriage. For instance, Desdemona father Brabantio doesn’t like Othello because Othello is black, he eloped with his daughter, and Brabantio believes Othello stole his wife. Society” Coelho-Sousae writes about an interracial couple mainly not being accepted by older people. She writes, “For the most part, my girlfriend and I only get slight glances and looks, mostly from old people.” This quote shows that as newer generation start coming in the more they are starting to accept it. One might object that people should stay in their race because then their race will get destroyed. This is incorrect because people have the right to choose who they want to marry and their parents shouldn’t decide who they shall
