Act 4, Scene 1

1. a) Othello falls down because he believes that Desdemona is cheating on him and

passes out in fear

Act 4 Scene 2

1. Othello asks Emilia if Desdemona is cheating with anyone. When Emilia says she

is not, Othello believes that she is lying

2. The quote “steeped in poverty to the very lips” shows that Othello feels weakened

by how he is a Moor and cannot talk fluently as other men.

3. Othello calls Desdemona a foul toad. His language is much more harsh and vulgar

contrary to the smooth talking Othello of Act 1

4. Desdemona acts more strongly when accused of infidelity because she was

persuaded by Emilia

Act 4 Scene 3

1. Othello tells Desdemona to go to bed with no attendant so that he can kill her

2. The scene seems to calm down (the calm before the storm) “He looks gentler than

he did” this quote tells you that Othello is more calm

3. It is dramatic because the song talks about forgiveness but Othello is going to kill

her

4. The quote “my love doth so approve him that even his stubbornness, his checks,

his frowns have grace and favor in them” shows that Desdemona is loyal to

Othello threw thick and thin
