Otto Dix: born 1891- died 1969. His art blossomed in the New objective or Neue Sachlichkeit. Like Expressionism, Neue Sachlichkeit is not an easily defined movement or style. It was seen as a response to its predecessor expressionism and Dadaism . It the style was realistic, social critical and often political charged. An example of political charge context is in Dix’s work, Verwundeter (Herbst 1916,Bapaume). It is a attack of Germany militarism and the horror of the trenches of the front line .Verwundeter (Herbst 1916,Bapaume) is a true horror of chaotic crosshatching and raw emotion.
