1.0 INTRODUCTION
Good morning children. How are you today? Have you taken your breakfast this morning? Before I start with my speech for today, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Nur Izzati Atikah. My profession is a secretary in one local firm, a homemaker and a mother of one eleven years old boy. I am studying in SRB Saint Columba from year 1984 until 1989. I have a lot of sweet memories during at a time when I’m study in this school. Some of my sweet memories in this school is I got my UPSR exam with straight five A. There is a secret behind my success in the exam, one of the secret is having a breakfast before I start my day and later on I will talk about “Why breakfast is the important meal of the day?”
Breakfast literally means ‘break the fast’; the first meal of the day.¹ Breakfast is the meal for breaking the fast for the day after eight until nine hours of sleeping. During the sleep hours, a time for our body and mind take a rest, we are not eating anything, and we only have dreaming or nothing. Because of that, the energy reserves inside your body getting low after wake up. In the morning, again both our body and the mind need sufficient energy to function properly.
