Introduction
Since the conclusion of World War II, the United States of America has worked diligently through diplomacy to encourage stability throughout the Arab World. In investigating foreign policies of the American administrations during Truman and Eisenhower presidencies, it is undeniable that that the power in America played a defining role in the construction and definition of the region. While it may appear as though that the United States’ policies symbolize its desire for imperialism, the truth lies at the opposite end of the spectrum. His profound belief in the idea of universalism, the right of all peoples to govern themselves, and distaste for imperialism forged the American foreign policy and established the United States as the voice for the freedom of all people. Taking this into account, Truman essentially told the world that the era of imperialism had come to a close, evidenced in his decision to end the expanse of Japan, by dropping the atomic bomb. His speech, known as the Eisenhower Doctrine, addressed the instability created by the war in Suez towards the struggle against the continual spread of communism. He said, “The reason for Russia’s interest in the Middle East is solely that of power politics.
