Cancer of the ovary (ovarian cancer) is the ninth most common cancer in women in the U.S. with almost 22,000 women newly diagnosed each year. Ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer deaths in women. It usually does not result in symptoms until the cancer has spread beyond the ovary. (Emma L Low, 2013) Ovarian cancer stems from cancerous cells of the epithelial lining of the ovary which can extend to the fallopian tubes. Approximately 92% of women at stage 1 will still be alive at 5 years. However, the 5-year survival for all women diagnosed with ovarian cancer is only 45%. (Emma L Low, 2013) This is because it is often found at an advanced stage in which the disease has already spread to the abdomen.
Natural Healing Options
Diet is extremely important in fighting and preventing ovarian cancer. There are natural remedies that have proven to be exceptionally useful in both preventing and curing ovarian cancer. Ginger, ginkgo biloba, green tea, and flaxseed are all effective at destroying ovarian cancer cells and tumors. They hinder production of the tumors and increase survival rates significantly. A balanced diet that contains Vitamin K prevents reoccurrence and acts as an additional natural medicine to fight the disease. Tests have shown that Vitamin K can stop and sometimes shrink tumor growths in many forms of cancer, including breast, ovary, colon, stomach and kidney as well as primary and squamous cell carcinomas of the lungs.
