Dean, College of Engineering iii ABSTRACT
This research project entitled “automatic water sprinkler for plant cultivation development” was conducted on July to October 2014 to provide a device that would automatically operate as a water sprinkler that is necessary for plant growth. The main objective of this project was to sustain a more constant source of water for plants.
A circuit with a temperature detector was intentionally designed that recognizes any rise of soil temperature. The thermistor, temperature detector, is a special type of resistor whose resistance varies significantly with the temperature.
As the temperature of the soil rises, the thermal device changes its internal resistance, saturating the bipolar junction transistors, permitting the current to flow, triggering the relay, and thereby, activating the solenoid valve.

The use of water to supply in Hydroponics provides nutrients to plants in a liquid form which makes them instantly available and not expend any energy in developing a huge root system (Bridgewood 2003, pp.9) Instead it puts its growth into foliage and fruit where most nutrients are found increasing the nutritional value of the food produced (Dekorne 1999, p.94).…

Hydroponics is a technique of growing plants without basing them in soil. Hydroponic systems have been used since ancient times; it is believed that the legendary Hanging Gardens of Babylon employed a technique of ‘flowing water’ to keep plants alive. Chinese and South American cultures appear to have used hydroponics in cultivating crops since around 1300AD (Turner. B. n.d.).…

For each treatment, we obtained two planting trays with cell flats- in which one corner cell was cut out to water the plants. We filled all cell flats with the fertilized soil and used forceps to place one seed with 3-4mm deep in the middle of each cell. After all trays of cells were planted, we brought these trays in a growth room and watered the plants. In the growth room, the amount of light, the temperature, and the humidity was kept the same for both control and experiment treatments. By using a ruler, we poured water into the trays up to 3 cm through the open-corner cells. We then watered the plants up to 1cm every Monday and Wednesday and up to 3cm every Friday. We also made a log of water that recorded who watered, how much water, and observations of the…

Almost all people and companies in the industry have many acres of land they must maintain, and it is not always feasible for farmers to take frequent trips around the property to perform basic tasks such as watering soil in the absence of rain. The number of people-hours required to water soil manually on several thousand acres of land might result in businesses spending thousands of dollars in labor and utility costs. If the irrigation process is automated, sensors detect how much rain has fallen recently, as well as whether the soil is in need of watering. The sensors then send this data to a computer that processes it and decides when and how much to water.…

Many of Poe’s stories have several similarities, for example, “The Masque of the Red Death”, “The Fall of the House of Usher”, “The Cask of Amontillado”, and “The Premature Burial” all have a dark setting, death, fear and symbolism in them. Edgar Allan Poe writes these stories based off of his own life and fears. His biggest fear is being buried alive, which most stories include. Some of his stories tell about his wife, Virginia, who died and causes many issues in Poe’s life and career.…

Many times the events that take place early on in a writer's life affect the work he produces later on in life. This is such the case with Edgar Allan Poe. His difficult life is, without a doubt, reflected in his dark, macabre tales and poems. He is widely acknowledged as the inventor of the modern detective story and an innovator in the science fiction genre, but he made his living as America's first great literary critic and theoretician. Poe's reputation today rests primarily on his tales of terror as well as on his haunting lyric poetry. Edgar Allan Poe used his literary works, to alleviate the stresses of reality. In his works he vented his frustrations and own negativity to illuminate the darker side of existence, and often used his own life experiences in his characters. Poe had a unique vision of the dark side of life-terror, suspense, mystery, madness, and phantoms were his literary specialties.…

I chose this topic for my experiment, because my mother has always been very interested in taking care of flowers and growing them form seeds to adults. We have many different plants in our home and every one of them has different watering and fertilizer instructions, which need to be followed in order to make the plant grow and develop as safely as possible. Every plant has unique features and appearance, which makes them intriguing. Even the individuals from one specific species can differ in size and height. Because the characteristics of every plant are unique and exceptional, they are very interesting topic to investigate. My mother’s excitement for plants also had an impact on my interest on this fascinating topic and because of this plant biology became one of the most interesting areas in biology and finally became the topic of my biology internal assessment.…
