• “Every trip is a quest.” In the book How to Read Literature like a Professor it states in every novel “every trip is a quest” and consists of so many things such as a quester, a place to go, a stated reason to go there, challenges and trails en route, and a real reason to go there. In the book The Fault in Our Stars there is a scene that goes perfectly with this, when Augustus takes Hazel to meet her beloved author Van Houten.…
The glass menagerie symbolizes the life of Laura. Laura grew up with a medical problem that included wearing braces on her legs. Laura felt different and outside the norm for other children. Her fragile body made her to become shy and private. Her only solace would be the collection of fragile glass animals. The oldest of her collection was the unicorn. The unicorn a beautiful and majestic creature, still having the visible "deformity" of the horn. The unicorn just did not quite fit in with the other horses. As Laura had the "deformity" of the braces, she did not seem to fit in. The addition of the other glass animals would give the unicorn friends, as Laura hoped to have.…
The book The Odyssey by Homer is a way to show how people can face many challenges in their lives. For example, the cyclops named Prometheus could be an example of people trying to hurt you, or stop you on your journey. Lotus flowers could represent temptations, and Aeolus meant to represent fortune and luck in going to be where you want to go, and underestimating how fortunate you are at a certain time. It’s easy to mix life with fiction, but the Odyssey merges the two beautifully.…

"The Progressive movement of 1900 to 1917 was a triumph of conservatism rather than a victory for liberalism." I disagree with this statement. The basic philosophy of "conservatism" is that change is bad. The basic "historian" definition of progressivism is: a movement for social change and improvement. For this reason, it is accurate to say that this era was a triumph of liberalism. The Progressive movement was a time of extreme changes where, social, urban, and economic; these essential aspects of American culture, were changed forever. This movement was famed for its change and government, which began to take a more active role in the aforementioned aspects.…
Rainer Maria Rilke once said that “The only journey is the one within.” This quote is a representation of the meaning of the journey that odysseus takes in the odyssey likewise the narrator in “The Journey”In The Odyssey by Homer, on odysseus’s journey he go to a few different dangerous place like an island of cyclops, there were also singing mermaids that would cause you to forget your goal of getting home. They go past the monsters then they arrived back home where Odysseus had to win a contest disguised as a servant to win his wife back. In “The Journey” by Mary Oliver the narrator goes on a journey to better her/his life and find people that can help her/him.The authors use details to convey that people embark upon journeys to discover…
The purpose of the journey of life is the journey itself - not to get somewhere. We already are somewhere, exactly where we need to be and to go forward from. It’s not about the destination/ending point, but about destiny, which is an eternal going forward that is already here, all along the way. It is our manifest destiny to live and learn and grow throughout eternity. Life is often described as a journey of discovery and growth, and the function of the journey is to learn through experiences. The goal of our journey through life is to learn the lessons that life’s challenges, problems, and adventures offer us. The main idea is not necessarily to get it right (or get it wrong) but simply to get it. Each character experienced some type of journey. Whether it was a grandma determined to get medicine for her…
“Some Where Over the Rainbow” is truly an inspirational and moving song. It was originally sung by Judy Garland and been has covered by several other musicians and singers. However, I felt the best cover was sang by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. He took the original song that was sung as a ballad and gave it a new twist, without even changing many of the lyrics. I believe Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s performance of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” is better than Judy garland’s because his vocals, timbre of his instrument, and lastly the tempo at which the song was done were better performed.…
A journey is more than just the dictionary meaning of travelling or moving from one place to another. It’s about creating an adventure from points A to B understanding the physical emotions along with intellectual understandings of a journey. This can be clearly seen in the three films Beneath Clouds, Finding Nemo and (related text) where the journey is undertaken in many ways.…
