Overcoming Obstacles In American Schools

As the oldest and first generation Russian- American daughter of two humble immigrants, with limited knowledge of American schools and there system and what they teach in school , homework had been my greatest obstacle. My parents were able to teach me the basics. Such as numbers and letters, how to add and subtract, multiply and divide but anything after the few years of basics, I was left to figure out anything else on my own. Sure they tried but it wasn’t what they grew up learning. My father was a drop out because it was hard holding up a family farm without any hands helping so he couldn’t help me and my mother and I never had a good relationship, so a wasn’t able to come up to her and ask her to help. And so they were not able to help
