For this project, I selected Jammie Serrano as my business owner to interview. I chose her, because in her field, she does her job very well. She has accomplished many things such as writing her own book called Stop Guessing Towards Your Goals by Jammie Serrano. She was also featured in the TK Business Magazine and was recognized for Topeka’s Tope “20 Under 40.” Jammie has also became friends with famous people and has also gotten the chance to work with them. People such as Vicki Gunvalson from the show The Real Housewives of Orange County. What also makes this more interesting is that is she also my aunt. I am going to go over things such as her job duties, the general market conditions, her general experiences, advice she has for students and advice she has for college graduates.…
When Amiercac was first discovered, different countries sought to find different things. Each national had a goal. The Spanish and the English had similar goals, but there were also some differences that contributre in the devolopement of Spanish and English colonial Socities. One important difference between their goals was settlement. The Spanish spent a lot more conquring land and using the Native Americans as slaves through encomienda system.…
Traditional barriers to counseling services such as limited hours, mobility challenges, medical illnesses and transportation can be overcome through the use of online counseling services (Barnett 2005). Online counseling presents a new and convenient alternative to the traditional face-to-face counseling which often requires overcoming barriers such as child care, transportation and other factors (Riemer-Reiss 2000). Individuals in remote or underserviced areas now have increased opportunities to access services (Riemer-Reiss 2000). Online counseling reduces the barriers to service utilization, reduces stigma and enhances positive help-seeking attitudes (Chang 2005). Online counseling is also often more affordable for clients, since there are…

2. Ego Defenses is another one of my barriers. Ego Defenses are psychological coping skills that will distort reality in order to protect themselves from guilt, anxiety, and other bad feelings. Some of the more basic ones that impact on our thinking are denial, projection, and rationalization. (Definition was taken from book) When I was 18 years old to 20 years old and still living in Michigan I never wanted to face the fact that I was lazy and suffering from being an alcoholic. I thought that just because I wasn’t dependent on alcohol that I did not have a problem. I spent my days drinking till I went to bed with friends, and then going to sleep waking up and doing it all over again. Maybe a day or two out of…
My goal as a challenged writer is to always improve and show my best work. Though it usually takes quite some time for me to produce my absolute best; I often come across problems that constantly bring me to a halt. One of the difficult things to accomplish in writing is usually overcoming writer’s block. From the moment when I first started writing as a child, my main problem always seemed to be writer’s block. However, over the years I’ve learned to somewhat overcome my problem by just putting down the exact thoughts in my head, on paper. Though, it not always easy or works according to plan, it still allows me to perform to the best of my skills. Overall when writing a paper, my first priority is to get the thoughts from my head into the paper. Even though, it may be difficult whether from grammar choices or writer’s block, in the end writing and finishing my assignment and getting a better grade is something I look to improve with this…
Throughout an individual’s life there will be some obstacles in their path. Some obstacles may take years to get over, but some may only take days to months to get over. Some people experience themselves worrying about making everyone in this world like them, or always wanting to keep the peace between everyone. Stress is one of the biggest obstacles individual’s faces in their everyday lives. A relaxing way to deal with stress is to imagine a soothing environment. Also, people use defense mechanisms to push themselves away from disagreeable behaviors and emotions.…
The segregated conditioning of the youth from the embryotic stage develops the lack of identity in members of the World State through the members manipulated thought process and physical makeup. At the fertilization room the World State “predestine and condition” babies, and also “decant our [the] babies as socialized human beings, as Alphas or Epsilons” (Huxley 13). The selective training, conditioning, and categorization of babies predestines the future of the babies and gives specific characteristics. From the embryotic stage, these babies are expected to follow the standards of their caste. The babies are trained to follow what the Director calls “the greatest…
Like many organizations today health care institutions are transforming or restructuring, using many motivating techniques. Whatever term used, process improvement, job design, restructuring, it amounts to downsizing. Even small change effects will reach not only the employees but also the customer and suppliers.…
We all go through obstacles that can hinder us from succeeding in school, jobs, in everything that we aspire to be in life. When dealing with these obstacles you must keep a positive outlook on everything that you do. With a little bit of hard work and dedication you too can overcome any obstacle.…
The biggest obstacle I have overcame in my life was attending college at a four-year school. While my family had a decent income, some spending decisions and my parent’s desire for me to “make it on my own” meant I had to pay for whatever education I acquired on my own. This was made more difficult because their income disqualified me from multiple scholarships. Another problem was that the quality of education offered by my local schools was not very high. We weren’t offered AP classes and had to take almost identical classes since the school just couldn’t afford to offer much else. These classes often lagged far behind most standards anyway because many students in the class had no interest in learning or their quality of education up…
And so on. The point is that opportunity coming from having to deal with obstacles is not a new concept. Humans have known it to be a fact for millennia. The Stoics firmly believed that you must take the obstacles in your life and turn them to your advantage, controlling what you can and accepting what you can’t. Not easy by any means, but eminently doable. We all have the ability to flip obstacles into opportunity but sadly, we all don’t tap into that gift. We choose how we perceive issues, so it makes sense that how we manage our problems governs how complicated they will be to rise above. It is through the control we take over groundless emotion, that we see things as they really are, not as they seem. And then we are able to take the…
A goal or challenge in my past that required perseverance and determination to accomplish would have to be my high school basketball career. My basketball career did not start out as one would have dreamt of growing up in a small town in the basketball rich state of Indiana.…
If I were to give a survey asking people what the most difficult point in life was, the overall answer will definitely be high school. High school is a time of self-discovery and issues. Everyone has a problem with school, home, or an activity. Obstacles are set to motivate us of course, but in the case of affecting academic performance, it can be what breaks my career.…
