END OF TOUR REPORT

INTRODUCTION

1. The Overseas Students Training Department of the Air Force Engineering University organises tours to selected tourist sites in China every academic year. This year, the tour began on the 27th of October and ended on the 2nd of November. Eighty students partook in the trip.

2. This year’s visit was centred on four major cities in China, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Yangzhou and Nanjing. The tourist sites we visited in the four cities are: a. Oriental Pearl Tv Tower, b. Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center, c. Shanghai museum d. Wu County e. West lake f. Former Residence Of Hu Xueyan g. Silk Market h. Slender West Lake i. Ge Garden j. The Memorial Hall Of The Victims In Nanjing Massacre By Japanese Invaders k. Commercial Area Around The Confucian Temple l. Mausoleum Of Dr Sun Yat Sen m. Former Presidential Palace Of R.O.C

AIM

3. This aim of this report is to give an account on the one week visit of some important tourist sites in China.

DAY ONE - ORIENTAL PEARL TV TOWER, SHANGHAI

The Oriental Pearl TV Tower
4. The Oriental Pearl TV Tower is a TV tower in Shanghai, China. Its location at the tip of Lujiazui in the Pudong district by the side of Huangpu River, opposite The Bund, makes it a distinct landmark in the area.
5. Construction of the tower began in 1991, and the tower was completed in 1994. At 468 m (1,535 feet) high, it was the tallest structure in China from 1994–2007, until recently when it was surpassed by the Shanghai
