I had to gather information over a 3 day period on what an individual ate, drank and how much exercise they did over that period of time. I did this so I could assess what could be changed and recommended in their daily intake. The individual I used was a 17 year old female, her dietary intake would be different to an elderly person or a pregnant woman. Guideline Daily Amounts or GDAs are a guide to how many calories and nutrients people can consume each day for a healthy, balanced diet.
Recommended daily intake.

Teenagers need lots of energy and nutrients because they’re still growing. Although different teenagers may have different dietary needs, this is based on the amount of exercise they do.
Recommended daily amount for a 17 year old girl is 10,300kJ /2462kcalTop of Form
From the results I collected show that the individual I recorded my results from does not eat enough during a day, she is only eating around 1,200 calories a day where as she should be eating up to 1,350- 2000 a day. She is eating to many ‘snack’ like foods for main meals, for example, she has eats pot noodles a lot, and other fatty food.
According to my results she is not eating enough to reach the recommended daily amount stated in the table above. She should be eating more healthier foods, and be taking in a few more calories per day, so she is able to reach the recommended amount.
