Pachia Xiong
Browsing through the Internet and searching up my name, I found out a couple things about myself, regarding articles and where I was able to find information about myself. Since I use both my full name, Pachia Xiong, and my nickname, Chia Xiong, on social media, it was harder to find myself within the search engines. When I searched the web using my full name, it was really hard to look for an article about me or a picture because, throughout my whole life I didn't do much because of the expectations my parents' set and the "wake up - go to school - come home - do homework - sleep" routine. We were never in sports and clubs. So, I'm actually really lucky that I found a few articles.
A few articles I found were written about how my Students In Action team lead Blaine High School to 2nd Place Gold Banner. And if I wanted to find a snippet of the articles about the Students In Action Gold Banner, I would have to at least go to the seventh page or even farther than that. Also, I had to read the brief description underneath each link to see if it actually has something to do with me. I found my LinkedIn on the first page under the link that said, "Top 20 Pachia Xiong profiles | LinkedIn." When opening up the link, my name was the first few 20, and it had

Within the link that said, “Chia Xiong Profiles | Facebook”, I found out that if another person and I do not have mutual friends, I will not pop up due to my privacy settings on Facebook. But if there are mutual friends, my Facebook will appear on the first page. It will also include the description, “Studied at North Hennepin Community College” and “Lives in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota” next to my name and my picture. When I clicked on my profile, it takes me to a page where you can see my most recent posts. Also when looking on the web I found no links or articles that linked me to my relatives or family

Throughout April 1989, large numbers of students gathered in Tian'anmen Square, in front of the Forbidden Palace in the centre of Beijing in China. They were demonstrating against political corruption and economic instability. As the crowds continued to grow, so did the displeasure of the government of the People's Republic of China. By the beginning of June, armed soldiers were sent in to suppress the protest. This they did, violently, leaving between 400 and 7000 people dead (because of the lack of freedom of the press in China at the time figures are very unreliable).…

As president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, in his second inauguration speech, surprises his audience by not giving a long, protracted harangue on politics and states’ rights, instead, he gives a concise lecture on the evilness of slavery and not charging the south with the entire cause of the war. And through juxtaposition, biblical allusion, and classical appeals, Lincoln articulates his purposes: to urge public amnesty for the south and to reunite the Unites States under one flag.…

Wu Zhao’s rise to ultimate power was not without struggle. Born to the loyal royal official Wu Shiyue in ~624CE, Wu Zhao was privileged enough to learn music, writing, and other subjects not all women had access to. From her very beginning, Wu Zhao was ruthless in her aspirations for power. For example, to dispose of Emperor Gaozong’s wife, Empress Wang, Wu Zhao killed her own daughter by suffocating her and framed Empress Wang for the murder. In 655CE, Gaozong promoted Wu Zhao to the position of Empress in place of the now disgraced Wang. Before long the former empress and many others that stood in the way of Wu Zhao’s rise to glory were picked off one by one, securing Wu Zhao’s place at the top. Then Wu Zhao began her political career with intense effort, for her goal was to become the first female-emperor of China.…

People often regard the ideas that are generally accepted by the multitudes as “truths”. However, many of them are not scientifically proven and lack logical and reasonable explanations. According to Saupe’s “What is Pseudoscience?”, such ideas are called “pseudoscience”. To be more specific, they are claimed to be scientific, but do not have objective evidence to prove that they are true. If people cannot distinguish between pseudoscience and scientifically proved science, the results would be consequential. False science would lead to the misunderstanding of things and cause people to do things wrongly and might lead to harms and damages eventually. To evaluate if the information is credible, there are some standards; for example, check the credentials of the author, check the credibility of the sources of the information and the relevant sources that the information contains and see if the author has good logics to prove the information (Saupe, 2005).…

The profile section is where people post a status and where people can see what others have written on our wall. I have a Facebook account and I have some of my family added. I don’t want my family to see what my friends post on my wall, nor do I want them to see who I talk to. My best friend and I talk about guys and other girl stuff, and I am afraid my family will think I have a boyfriend or something like that. I do not want them to know the real me because they may not approve of what I am telling other people. Another thing is that someone may not always be the same person on Facebook. No one can be sure about who someone is really talking to. Now and days people tend to make false Facebook’s. By making a fake Facebook, they add people who they do not get along with just to see what that person is up to, and who they talk to, that is why I always think twice before accepting a friend request and sending a friend request.…

Kong Yiji, Diary of a Madman by Lu Xun describe the tragedy that generated by the old traditional Chinese civil exam to the low social rank scholar, and the unconcerned and indifferent between human relationship in a feudal society during monarchy period. Kong Yiji was a despaired scholar who was unable to pass the civil exam. He was “the only customer in a long gown (page 43)” in the bar. Everyone mocked him for his failure on the exam. Although he was mentally hurt, he still showed his arrogant and stubbornness to these uneducated people. Like his long gown, it was dirty and toned but Kong Yiji always wore it in the public. It represents his self-esteem because without it, no one realized he was a scholar but only knew that he was lazy and useless. Kong Yiji only concentrated on the books and he was not able to accept new ideas. He stole books to read while told people that “the purloining of volumes cannot be counted as theft (page 44)”. Kong YIji’s concept was distorted due to the cruel system of imperial examination and hidebound traditional education.…

    Identify Yourself

Physically, I am an Asian boy with somewhat a smooth hairstyle. I’m relatively chubby with about 168-centimeter height and 80-kilogram weight. Working out every single day and trying to build a ripped body aren’t my things. However, I do love sports, a whole lot. Basketball, table tennis and swimming are hobbies that I enjoy doing real much whenever I have some free time or I simply need a stress reliever. The way I look and the way I speak may make people think that I’m an Asian American, but I’m not. I am originally from Vietnam and I left Vietnam to study abroad when I was 16, studied at a boarding school for the past 3 years. And somehow on the way I lost a tiny bit of that “truly Vietnamese” look and accent. Anyway, I’m a big believer in the quote “Never judges a book by its cover”, so I hardly emphasize on how I appear to be. It does not matter if I dress up as a hipster (which I usually do) or if I decide to have a simple day with casual and comfy clothes on, it’s who I truly am not how my physical appearance that highlights my identity.…
