Pada tahun 1876, George Carey menciptakan sebuah selenium kamera agar seseorang dapat melihat listrik. Kemudian pada tahun 1884, Paul Nipkow mematenkan elektromaknetik sistem pada televisi. 13 tahun berselang, Karl Ferdinand Braun menciptakan monitor CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) dengan layar yang bisa berpendar jika terkena sinar dan menjadikan dasar sejarah layar televisi monitor tabung. Tahun 1900, penggunaan nama televisi pertama kali digunakan. Kata televisi disebutkan oleh Constatin Perskyl. Tele yang berarti jauh dan vision yang berarti tampak. Pada tahun 1925, John Logie Baird menemukan sistem video recording untuk yang pertama kalinya, kemudian dia juga menunjukan transmisi dari gambar bayangan hitam yang bergerak. Philo T Farnsworth menemukan pertama kalinya image dissector yang menjadi dasar televisi pada tahun 1927. Dua tahun berselang, Vladimir Zworykin menyempurnakan perkembangan tabung katoda dan disebut kinescope. Tahun 1940, Peter Goldmark menciptakan untuk yang pertama kalinya televisi berwarna dengan resolusi mencapai 343 garis. Sinyal digital bisa ditangkap dari beberapa pemancar yang membentuk jaringan berfrekuensi sama, sehingga daerah cakupan yang bisa dicakup oleh televisi digital semakin luas. Perbedaan mendasar antara televisi analog dengan televisi digital ada di sistem transmisi pancaran. Jika televisi analog sedang mendapatkan sinyal yang lemah, maka gambar yang dihasilkan akan berbayang dan banyak bintik-bintik.     As Nelson explains in The History of Television Technology, Electronically scanning systems were independently and almost simultaneously developed in the 1920's and '30's. Utilizing such inventions as the German cathode-ray tube and the iconoscope, two American researchers invented the electronic television system. Television sets, computers, automated teller machines, video game machines, video cameras, monitors, oscilloscopes and radar displays all contain cathode-ray tubes; they operate based on a screen that emits a visible light when struck by a beam of electrons. Russian scientists attached this technology to a camera, and using mirror-drum scanning transmitted crude geometrical patterns onto the first television screen, called the iconoscope. Mirror-drum scanning was a light, efficient, mechanical scanner and in its original form there were as many mirrors as there were lines in the picture and each mirror was tilted at a different angle compared to the axis of the drum. Seperti sebelum pemakaian awal baterai harus dicahrge selama beberapa jam untuk melakukan pengisian dan kalibrasi baterai, guna memaksimalkan tenaga penyimpanan listrik dalam baterai sehingga nantinya dapat periode penggunaan baterai bisa lebih panjang. Atau sebagai contoh juga penggunaan smartphone diarea pengisian bahan bakar, penggunaan smartphone dalam area tersebut dapat memicu percikan api yang dihasilkan melalui radiasi signal smartphone.
