The ACL, or medically known as the anterior cruciate ligament, is a ligament in the knee that connects the femur to the shin bone which is made up of a strong band of tissue. The ACL is one of the four ligaments in the knee that includes the PCL, MCL and, LCL; this ligament is more common to be torn because it is the weakest of them all.
