He showed this trait by losing the battle against carranzas and he kept fighting even tho he knew he lost. After he lost he never gave up on his rebellion because he believed in never giving up. Later in his life time he will lose on purpose to draw out troops from the Mexican president. He would lead raids on the boreder and leave to draw them out and get more attention.
