Considering the fact that the market and most products today are shifting towards healthier eating, I do think Indra Nooyi’s vision for PersiCo is headed in the right direction and it would be wise to invest more in the company. Companies that enjoy enduring success have core values and a core purpose that remain fixed while their business strategies and practices endlessly adapt to a changing world. The dynamic of being able to preserve the core while stimulating progress in most companies is the reason successful institutions are able to renew themselves and achieve superior long-term performance.
Every CEO should understand the difference of what should never change and what should be open to change. I do think that Indra Nooyi does have an understanding human needs are changing to healthier options and she is moving the company to aspire, to become, to achieve and to create what its consumers need.
I don’t think it would be possible for a leader to attempt to do what Nooyi is doing with ought to having the kind of power she possesses. Executives can only impact firm’s outcomes if they have influence over crucial decisions. Introducing new products into the market can have a lot of pushback from investors especially when there is doubt if the products will be marketable. Her strong personality will definitely be a factor in getting the investors buy into her vision for the company.
Since she is not know for backing down from a challenge and considering past experience and her advice ‘The harder the business the bigger the turnaround’ its safe to that she has the necessary skills and knowledge to envision where the company should be headed. As the CEO, it is her duty to set strategy and vision for the company and most importantly set the direction.
The approach can be sustainable if Nooyi decides to leave PepciCo. Her expertise would be missed but her transparency of what the company’s vision should be is well known to most
