Cahokia: Cahokia was a city in the southwest of Illinois that ran across the Mississippi River and emerged around AD 1000 (peaked in 1350). The spreading of maize to this region resulted in agricultural boom and, subsequently, a growth in urban population and complex society. Cahokia was significant because it became the center of the Mississippian culture, and its development resulted in a population increase from 10,000 to 30,000.…
The origin of earth’s magnetic field is a result of molten metal in the outer core that circulates around the inner core like a giant dynamo. Magnetism of the lithosphere supports the model of plate tectonics through the development of new oceanic crust that formed volcanism at the ridge crest in the prevailing polarity. This new crust was split apart and then moved in opposite directions. This explains new lithosphere at mid oceanic plate margins.…
This story takes place on the mysterious isle of Fincayra. Fincayra is overrun by a great evil brought forth by the enormous wild boar Rhita Gawr. Rhita Gawr is the arch nemesis of the great stag Dogda who is fighting for the side of good. The land now lay in shackles under the crushing relentlessness of king Stangmar who was ruler of the land. Also known as Valley fever is an infection that is caused by the fungi Coccidioides. The fungus grows in soil found in the southwestern part of the United States as well as Mexico and Central/South America. Those living in these designated areas can contract this disease by inhaling the fungal spores in the air. This is considered a self limiting respiratory infection so most individuals that are infected present with mild to no symptoms at all. A patient with this disease can present with the following signs and symptoms anywhere from 1-3 weeks after breathing in the fungal spores due to its incubation period of 10-16 days. The symptoms consist of, fatigue, cough, SOB, fever, chills, HA, night sweats, muscle aches/joint pain, rash on the upper body or legs (erythema nodosum). These symptoms can last 7-30 days or up to several months depending on the severity. In regards to patient history, it is important to get a travel history especially if they went to an endemic area to determine their risk of exposure. Some exam findings could be respiratory manifestations such as rales, rhonchi, bronchial breath sounds, or decreased breath sounds. Skin findings could consist of diffuse, maculopapular rashes or urticaria that may progress to erythema nodosum or erythema multiforme after 3-21 days. Abscess formation can also be found on PE and unifocal bone or joint lesions if MS involvement. It can involve several organs such as the spleen, liver, lymph nodes, and the CNS can be involved resulting in meningitis.…

Pancho Villa is mostly known as being a notorious leader during the Mexican Revolution, but he was not always depicted as the good guy. Although there is not much documented on his life before the outbreak of war, it is without a doubt that he was once a bandit on the run from the law (Quintana 8). His days of being an outlaw would eventually shape him and give him the experience he needed to become one of the greatest revolutionary leaders of his time (Katz 88).…
As a supreme monarch I, Frederick William the Great Elector, should be the active leader of Nacirema. In my times I was the best ruler and I made many of accomplishment in my life. Besides all the other candidates that is running against me, I believe I will be the only one who can make Nacirema the best of nations in the world. There are many of reasons why I would be the best ruler of this nation and I will highlight two accomplishments that I completed that should allow me to obtain the position as a ruler. One reasons why I should receive the job as a ruler is because I have past experience of ruling over countries. Equally important, while being the ruler over Brandenburg, and Persia the people declared it as the best times of their lives because of the new things I have brought into their lives.…
As the African tectonic plate GRADUALLY pushed the edge of the tectonic plate and the original horizontal layers of the rocks went folded or bent by the faults. Large amounts of older, buried rocks were pushed northwestward, up and over younger rocks along a large nearly flat lying thrust fault, know now as the great smoky fault. After the natural process of the Appalachian mountain building the supercontinent of Pangea broke apart and the North American and African tectonic plates GRADUALLY moved to their present position. The mountains the currents ones suffered a process of an intense erosion from ice, wind, and water. It was so big that TREMENDOUS amounts of eroded sediments were transported toward the Atlantic Ocean Gulf of Mexico by rivers and streams. Some sediments formed the Gulf of Mexico beaches. As the mountains worn down, the layers of rock most resistant to erosion were left to form the highest peaks in The Great Smoky Mountains, such as waterfalls. Today, geologists’ estimate that the…
