Strengths
Papa John’s strengths includes its high-quality ingredients, great customer service, strong employee training, strong marketing support, efficient restaurant layout, and an efficient supply chain. First, Papa John’s uses fresh, never frozen ingredients that don’t contain additives or fillers in their pizza production. This gives them a competitive advantage around taste and arguably, their healthiness than the competition. Second, Papa John’s offers its customers great customer service, having earned the reputation as the number one rated pizza chain in customer satisfaction and product quality for the fifteenth time in seventeen years, according to the 2016 American Customer Satisfaction Index. Their current marketing program allows them to reach out to individual communities where it operates. Utilizing the marketing support, Papa John’s can implement in the best interest of the communities where stores are located. Papa John’s advertises in the international, local, and nation markets. Internationally, they employ a combination of strategies, which includes, television, radio, digital, and print advertising. Their local advertising strategy includes the use of television, radio, and print opportunities. The national strategy includes advertising via television, print, direct mail. Digital, mobile marketing and social media channels.
Also, athlete endorsement has made their marketing support even stronger. Retired football player Peyton Manning signed a deal with Papa John’s in 2012, which in result made Manning their official spokesperson for their television ad campaign and a franchise owner of 21 Papa John’s restaurants. This was in response to Pizza Hut securing the services of another popular Super Bowl winning quarterback, Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers.
