How I Have Become Who I Am “HIT HARDER!!!!!” my dad screamed as he held the tackling dummy, which made me want to tear the pad apart as I tried my hardest to do exactly what he wanted. My dad helped me get better at football and other sports by making me mad to hit the pad harder. My mom also had her share in making me get better at sports. She would always drive me to any camps, practices, and games. I was also pushed by my brother who made me want to become a better athlete since he would always brag to me that he was better. Therefore I have been working to try and prove him wrong to show him I am better. These three people my dad, mom, and brother all have influenced me by pushing me to become better at sports. First, my brother has influenced me a lot over my life; my brother is extremely hard working. He spends two hours a day in the gym or on the football field. By him doing this, it has made me want to follow in his footsteps and try to beat the records he set. Also, my brother is really athletic. I know this since he can run very fast, jump really high, and maintain a high rate of speed for a long time. This influences me because he always says he a much better athlete than I am, and I have worked very hard to try and show him that I am a better athlete. Lastly, he is a very sporty person. He has played travel baseball for eight years, is on varsity football team, and plays basketball in the summer. This has influenced me since he is always out of the house with a different sport--while when I was younger, I would just sit around. This influenced me to get involved in sports. My brother has been very influential in my life because he is hardworking, athletic, and very sporty. Secondly, my dad has been very influential on me because he is very successful, well educated, and very motivated. My dad is very successful in his job. I know this because he manages a lot of people, and his office is on the top level of his building. This has influenced me because the money that he brings in has helped finance the sports that I have wanted to play. Also, my dad is well educated. He has a master's degree in mechanical engineering, which means he is good at math and science. This has influenced me because he has made me want to follow in his footsteps and go to college so I can have a good life when I am older. Lastly, my dad is very motivated; he sets his mind to something and he does it. He wanted to start a trap team for Eden Prairie High School, and he did it and is one of the coaches on it. This influences me because if I ever start a project or something like that, he will help me finish it. My dad has been very influential to me since he is very successful, educated, and motivated. Lastly, my mom has been very influential on my life by being generous, devoted, and helpful in my life. One thing is she is very devoted to giving me a good life since she drives me to any sports games. She also will cook meals for me and make sure I get anything I will need for school. This has helped me be much more prepared for school and has been a huge part of my life. Also, my mom has been very helpful in my life. I know this because she is always there to help me with any school work if I ever need it. This has made me a smarter person because if I am confused, she will help me, and then I will understand it. Lastly, my mom is very generous. I know my mom is generous because one time there was a new person at her work, and she spent her whole day helping the new employee. This has influenced me because my mom expects me to be as generous as she is, and it has made me a more generous person. My mom has been very influential on my life because she is extremely devoted, helpful, and generous. In conclusion, throughout my life my brother, dad, and mom have been extremely influential. My mom has influenced me by being so devoted to make sure I am happy. My brother has influenced me by making me try harder to be better at sports than he is. My dad has influenced me by helping me with any school work and helping me understand things to make me smarter. This is how I've been influenced in my life and it has made me the sporty, friendly, and motivated person I am today.

Growing up, my siblings and I participated in a variety of competitive sports. For my brother and me, this consisted of soccer, basketball, and running track. We would constantly practice together and would make every aspect of it a competition. For example, whoever was breathing hardest at the end of a sprint lost, whoever shot more goals in soccer won, and whoever could dodge and fake out the other was the best athlete in the family. I would try and try to beat my brother but he always found a way to get the upper hand. Compared to my brother, I saw myself as a failure. It wasn’t until one parent teacher conference night that i realized that I was far more academically capable than my older brother. I had better grades and was more well liked…

There are many roots and causes to evil in different societies, but is there a sole scapegoat to be found? When it comes to the Unites States of America, there is not one specific cause to our high homicide rate and other violent crimes. Many experts’ opinions differ on this topic as to why America is one of the leading countries in violence. Scott Coltrane states, “We were founded on violence and we continue to perpetuate it on one another” (Violent Crime). I believe this to be a false assumption based on historical facts that would be irrelevant to our ever changing culture.…
