PANDAS is an acronym for Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal infections, a rare disease that usually appears in children.     “All the King’s Men” written by author Robert Penn Warren, takes place in a society with declining morals in 1939 and published 1946. The novel is about a man, Jack Burden, the protagonist and becomes Willie’s “right-hand-man” in doing whatever Willie wants and gets information on others that Willie feels threatened by and uses that information to blackmail people. Other than the corruption that Jack Burden does for Willie, as a reader you are able to see that Jack Burden is a good character who is learning from his surroundings becoming a more wise and moral character. In the beginning of the novel, Jack Burden contains childlike qualities. He believes that Willie is protecting him because Willie and Judge Irwin are the father figure in his life. When Jack realizes that Willie isn’t the right father figure in his life is when Jack gains wisdom and realizes his mistakes and starts to become a man. Closer to the end of the novel when Jack has his realization is when he starts taking responsibility and leaving his Great Twitch idea, that no one person can take the consequences of a single action, he does this by taking responsibility for himself and others. Jack heals from his past hurts to become a better man and develop the morals that their society desperately needs to push through and get rid of all the corruption that Willie Stark brings to their society.…

    My case is the one of fourteen year old James Ingraham vs. his middle school principle Willie J. Wright Jr. James’ parents are suing the Middle school their son attends (Charles R. Drew Junior High School) because they feel that their son was condemned to cruel and unusual punishment and has lost his liberty as a citizen of the United States. On October 6, 1970, Ingraham and another student were called into the principal’s office. James’ offense was failing to leave the school auditorium stage when instructed to do so by a teacher. Once in the principal’s office, James announced his innocence against the accusations of the teacher. Mr. Wright was unconvinced and ordered Ingram to bend over the table so that Wright could spank him using the discipline paddle. Ingraham refused to do so, and Wright began to force James’ head down on the table. The assistant Principal, Lemmie Deliford, assisted Wright by holding Ingraham’s legs. Wright then proceeded to strike Ingram with the paddle over 20 times, resulting in Ingram getting a hematoma. The hematoma resulted in Ingraham being hospitalized and requiring rest for eleven days.…

    The movie "At First Sight" can be connected to several things we learned in Psychology. For example, Virgil, the blind man, picks up more on distinct smells and sounds than a person who can see. This shows brain plasticity because his brain has altered in structure and function in the other areas to compensate for loss of sight. He notices the echo of rain on the rooftop and can make a visualization of the shape of the room in his head. Also, he picks up on the cinnamon smell of Amy and uses that to describe her. Since he can't see when the environment changes, he can memorize the placement of everything in his house and all the buildings and trees outside by what he has been told. When his sight is first restored, he cannot recognize objects by sight because brain plasticity has taken over to cover that need. When he feels the object, it tells his brain what the object is and then the brain tells the eyes, which is known as sensory interaction, so he can learn to recognize objects with his new sense of sight. Also, he lacks a visual memory because he has been recognizing things without seeing for years so is unable to read. Towards the beginning of his sight being restored, Virgil, has to discover object permanence, which means that things exist even when they're not perceived, since he never learned that as a child because he couldn't see. Also, he discovers that the speed of objects seem to increase as they get closer. This can be seen in the scene where the man shows Virgil with his fist and also when Virgil tests it out for himself on the road when the cars come closer to him they seem to speed up. This is a monocular cue related to depth perception studied in Psychology and is known as the looming effect or optical expansion.…
