3) Athletes should be allowed to take steroids and human growth hormones under a doctor’s supervision.
Believing: Athletes take their sports very seriously, especially if it is their job or it is paying for their tuition. They should be allowed to take steroids and human growth hormones because it will help them improve their abilities. If they are under a close watch of a doctor, there should be no reason why they shouldn’t be able to take steroids and human growth hormones. Athletes that would be taking these would be at least eighteen years old and well aware of the risks they might be exposing their bodies to. But if they understand those risks and are being watched by a doctor, it should be their decision if they want to enhance their abilities by using steroids and human growth hormones.
Doubting: Allowing athletes to take steroids and human growth hormones might get a little complicated. Say the age limit for this is at least eighteen years old, but a sixteen year old ends up being a professional athlete. This might stir up problems since that sixteen year old will be competing with athletes that are all taking steroids and human growth hormones and the sixteen year old wouldn’t be allowed to. Another issue that could occur would be underage athletes would feel pressured to take steroids in order to not feel so left out and disadvantaged. Taking steroids and human growth hormones can be risky but I’m sure it is not a good idea for young teenagers to be taking them. Lastly, coaches might force their players to take steroids and human growth hormones leaving the players helpless and risking their health and bodies.
