has one of the largest growing populations in the world with rough estimate of 130,222,815 and counting. According to Worldometers Mexico is the tenth has the largest population in the world (Countries in the world by population (2017)). But what has concerned me a lot about this country is amount of poverty and every time I’ve visited Mexico I’ve noticed that there are a lot of people living in poverty. However, what upsets me the most is that the government has not successfully done anything to reduce the amount of poverty in Mexico. According to the world fact book 52.3% of the population lives in poverty and this number has increased rather than reduced itself (Central Intelligence Agency). The question is why does more than half of Mexico’s population live in poverty? According to Brianna one percent of the population owns 43 percent of Mexico’s wealth (IBT). It is understandable why many Mexicans migrate their families every year to the United States. As Mentioned before Mexico City is the most populated city in Mexico and for this reason Mexico City is facing a huge problem. Mexico City is sinking into the ground, and for the last half century Mexico has been sinking more than 32 feet (Cole). This reason to this is because Mexico City’s large population gets its water from an aquifer that below the city, therefore with its large population this aquifer Is being drained at a way faster pace than the aquifer can be refilled. This causes the city to sink and with all the weight the city has gained over the years it has made Mexico City is sinking at a faster rate. Mexico’s climate varies according to its topography. The map below shows all the different types of climates throughout Latin America. Latitude, elevation, and rainfall are all essential to determine a regions climate. Mexico, according to this map has four different types of climate. In Northern Mexico it consists of tropical and subtropical desert and tropical and subtropical steppe and a little of midlatitude steppe near the border of Texas. In the Pacific Coast and Central part of Mexico the climate is mostly complex mountain climates and tropical wet and dry savanna. Finally, along the Gulf of Mexico climates consists of tropical rainy, tropical wet and dry and savanna, and tropical and subtropical steppe. Mexico is a very beautiful country with beautiful geography, culture, and much more. No wonder millions of tourist visit Mexico every year including me. However, my question now is how is life in Mexico when you are a permanent citizen. Is the government of Mexico not providing enough jobs to help those in poverty to get out of it? And if the majority of people in poverty do get jobs, will people in get paid enough to at least live a life without worrying about when their next meal will be.
