Paradox Of Being A Model Minority Analysis
In his article ”Misidentification, misembodiment and the paradox of being a model minority” from December 2012, psychologist Ramaswami Mahalingam discusses a problem of increased violence against immigrants caused by the 9/11 incident. He highlights the terrible impact on health of the people, who experienced misidentification. It is obvious that people of U.S were scared after the 9/11. Some of them them felt huge anger and sorrow after their lost. We have to be very careful though, in concentrating our anger. Sikh community experienced harm and just because they wear turbans, white people thought they were muslims, further terrorists. Many innocent people suffered from misidentification, and still suffer everyday. Although I can present
my view clearly, thinking of misidentification as something horrible, I cannot be sure how would I behave if I lost beloved person.
