The United States system is a paradox within itself because they blatantly support both the capitalism and democracy in a society, causing fundamental paradoxes. To openly support both shows that they are “very undemocratic, both in terms of how decisions are made and power is distributed.” (pg. 18) When we side with capitalism, we send a message that the money is more important and how we acquire it does not necessarily mean that everyone involved was considered. The freedom to make money is a top goal in our society but so are the individuals. When we side with democracy, we display a sense of limitations that could potentially protect many more people than it could help the corporations.
