Week 1-Individual Paragraph Writing
Purpose, audience, tone, and content all work with each other and should be used when writing academically to get the best writing possible. The purpose of the paragraph is why the writer is writing the paragraph in the first place. The writer is sharing their ideas, stories, experiences, information, and the purpose for writing. If there was no purpose of the paragraph, the writer would not need to write it. The audience is an individual or a group of people who the writer is trying to address the paragraph to. The writer should present their ideas to the audience clearly so the information can be easily understood. The writer is informing the audience about a topic in a professional manner. The audience tries to understand what the writer is trying to say. The tone impacts the writing because it shows the writer’s attitude toward the written topic. The writer’s tone can alert the audience to the attitude of writing such as for example, funny, sad, mad, anxious, or excited. The writer wants to try to bring the right mood to the audience and the topic written. The content has impacted the writing to keep the attention of the audience and with the material. The writer needs to keep the audience content with the material that was written. The different audiences impact the different content and the needs for the appropriate audience. The purpose, audience, tone, and content should all work together so that the writer can present a well-written paragraph to the audience.

I have applied for a position as a Medical Transcriptionist at Arrowhead Hospital to get back into the medical field. When I graduated from High School, I decided that I wanted to be a Medical Assistant. At that time, I was employed by a company that was in the business of building houses. Once I graduated with my Associates Degree in Medical Assisting, I decided that I wanted to take my medical career further and continued my education with a course in Surgical Technology. Upon completion of my course work in the Surgical Technology program I was required to complete an externship at Phoenix Children’s Hospital within the pediatric neurosurgery department. This was an extremely challenging task as emotionally, I was not ready to deal with the emotional impact of helping babies that were so ill and sometimes terminal. I completed my externship and graduated from the program and at that time, I decided to continue my employment in the homebuilding business. In 2005, the real estate market started to take a turn for the worse and my position in homebuilding was eliminated. Shortly after this, I started a family and made the choice to stay at home with my children while they were young. I am now ready to re-enter the workforce and my past experience in the medical field complements the training that I have received as a Medical Transcriptionist.…

The purpose for writing a play, document, or even a letter identifies the reason “why”. You may write a play to get noticed by a producer. There are four main purposes to writing and they are to summarize, to analyze, to synthesize, and to evaluate. Your audience will always depend on the group of people or individual you will be speaking too or who will be watching you, weather you are acting in a play or speaking at a family reunion. You do not have to be in front of someone speaking to have an audience. You may have written a script for a play and want a producer to read over it in which then that person or people who are reading what you have wrote becomes your audience. No matter if you are speaking in front of someone or sending an email you have to make sure your tone s approximate. Your tone identifies your attitude. Even when sending an email you should never use all capitalized letters. It makes the reader thing you are yelling or using a high pitched tone. Your content is what information you use for your document. Contents can be anything from something a person may write to pictures or even graphs. When writing any type of document always consider who your audience will be or the individual that you will be speaking to or reading something you have written. Make sure your tone is presentable and you have all the main contents you will need to present your…

Purpose, tone, audience, and content, are ideal in developing academic writing skills. Purpose is the reason for even starting to write about any topic. Often purpose will have the writer choose what kind of paper to write; whether it may be evaluation, synthesis, summary, or analysis. By developing this skill the writer can then set the tone they might want to use. By setting the tone of the paper the writer can control the mood of the paper and control how they feel about the topic. By incorporating tone in any paper, the writer can make a personal connection to the type of audience they are writing for. In connecting with the audience, the writer can evaluate and incorporate the audience’s diversity through their demographics, education level, prior knowledge, and expectations on the paper being written. Learning the audience and their expectations can lead the writer to include good support material or content of the paper. By including good content and supporting material, the writer therefore can focus on what they are going to write about and what the writer is going to discuss about in their topic. The writer must have an audience and purpose before they can start research on content or even set the tone of the paper. In conclusion, in combining purpose, audience, tone, and content, a writer can develop academic writing skills and use those skills for every aspect of writing, which are ideal for academic…

I am applying for the medical billing position that is being offered here in Dr. Burn’s office. I have some knowledge of Medical Billing because I had worked for a clinic locally in the past. I was faced with a challenge ten months ago when the construction company I had been managing was sold which resulted in major cuts. When I was faced with the challenge of looking for a job I remembered through my experience at the clinic listening to the volunteer doctors who would come in regularly with the same complaint, “The biller just quit again!” That reflection helped me to discover that this would be the direction I would go in. I taught myself the system they were using, which was extremely intense. My one attribute with regard to succeeding is that I have a burning desire to do my best at anything I take on.…

Alice Doe’s article discussed overlooked tax deductions. It talked about some of the most commonly missed deductions. Whereas her use of statistics seemed to bolster her arguments, it would have been nice to see her elaborate more about the specific deductions missed. She could have talked about what recourse, if any, a filer would have once he or she realized there was an overlooked deduction. She also should have focused more on why the deductions were overlooked, as that would have made the article more effective.…

It demonstrates nobility and kindness which allows the reader to want to be more like the characters in the story.
