Partner Teacher
As a partner teacher, some of my duties include supporting instruction, facilitating small groups and creating a loving and supportive environment for all students. What I enjoy most about my partner teacher duties is having the opportunity to assist individual students. One of the greatest feelings in the world is watching a student grow academically and socially due to the additional support that I had the privilege to provide. Often times, I assist students by providing explicit instruction or help them complete a task at a slower pace. Socially, I am available to help students if they are having a difficult time with their peers, or if they need help calming down and expressing their feelings. Teaching is such a remarkable profession,

I disagree with Leon Botstein's essay "Let Teenagers Try Adulthood". Botstein argues that teenagers have matured much more quickly over the past few years. Therefore, he believes high school be abolished and a child's education should begin earlier in order for students to graduate around the age of sixteen rather than eighteen. High school is intended for students of a certain maturity level. But now, students are exceeding that level rapidly. Botstein sees high school as a place full of superficial, adolescent teenagers that care more about appearances, popularity, cliques and sports than education. Because they have reached a high maturity level at such a young age already, there are many students that are wasting their junior and senior years away in high school rather than starting college. I disagree with Botstein however. High school is a transition period for students to learn how to take on more responsibilities. It is the time for teenagers to become more social and independent. While I do agree with Botstein on his point of maturity levels growing faster, I don't agree that students should be graduating earlier than they currently are. Not all students are capable of the same things. Most high school students are not prepared to enter into adulthood just yet. They still need someone to guide them along a path until they've graduated. Age restrictions are applied to the youth community for a reason. The majority of teenagers are not ready to handle the responsibilities that come their way. The legal age for drinking is 21 because of safety concerns as well as the responsibility that comes with the consumption of alcohol. Fortunately for Texas, teenagers are able to obtain their drivers license at the age of sixteen, but other states, like California, have citizens wait until they are eighteen to obtain their license with the same privileges as a sixteen year old from Texas. Responsibilities are tough to handle, even for an adult. So why have the same…

In addition to my enthusiasm for investing in young lives, I have done some volunteering as a teaching assistant to get some hands-on classroom experience for formal teaching. My experience at the school allowed me to acquire a number of skills and also help enhance my weaker ones. The key skills and strength that I possess for success include my enthusiasm and dedication to my assigned duties and my ability to support and inspire young people through being a good listener to them and offering appropriate advice. I am also highly skilled in assisting the instructor in supervision of students’ arrival and departure time, performing clerical and record keeping tasks and maintaining discipline of the classroom in the absence of the instructor. One of my greatest strengths is helping maintain a well-disciplined learning environment, with minimal interruptions and maximum productivity. This is achieved by pulling misbehaving students aside, reinforcing positive behaviour, and implementing a reward system.…

Always acting professionally and helping students reach their full potential is my responsibility as a teacher at all times. I need to have skills to effectively plan and deliver inclusive learning, promoting equality and diversity. This can be done by using different teaching methods such as group discussions, demonstrations or asking questions. I need to be able to identify the learners needs by doing an initial assessment which in turn will help me identify the needs of the learners and advise them of the appropriate support available. This could be referring them for study skill support, or help with exam support etc.…

. support for pupils: In daily class life I am required to implement structured learning activities and supervise and assist a student or a group of students in completing their tasks. It is also required that I undertake activities in assisting in monitoring the personal, social and emotional needs of a pupil, and to also develop a positive relationship with the pupils. Helping a pupil to reach their individual targets and monitoring their progress the main role I have is to ensure pupils remain on task and then report the progress to the teacher. Offering support and understanding to those who are upset and helping pupils to learn through play. It is important that class rooms are kept tidy so that the pupils have a pleasant environment to work in so that is one of the important roles that is followed strictly.…

Every week at a nearby elementary school, I tutor children from kindergarten to sixth grade as a part of their YMCA after school care program. Typically, I work with the same group of students to finish their math homework, work on a project for social studies, or help them sound out new words. By watching them thrive in a positive environment and develop a love for learning, they constantly teach me new things. After being at school all day and dealing with ample amounts of stress, their innocent and bright minds cause me to ground myself and realize what is at the core of all of my hard work in academics: a thirst for knowledge. Perhaps the most rewarding thing has been witnessing them improve dramatically, such as being able to read a word with ease that we sounded out multiple times the previous week, with a smile on their face and a new sense of confidence and accomplishment. Steadfastly teaching them that by working hard and not giving up they can reach their goals, it leaves me with such a proud feeling when I see them putting it into action. Tutoring has been a two-way street: the children have impacted my life in a positive and meaningful way just like I have impacted…

I especially helped students who were struggling and having difficulties of following procedures of solving problems. However from all my tutoring experience I observed that these students all have a sense of curiosity and a desire to learn. I strongly believe that I can nurture these students’ interests to flourish with my passion, dedication, perseverance, and love of teaching especially to these at risk students. As a teacher, not only would I like to care for my student’s intellectual growth, but I also would like to demonstrate concern for their personal and emotional needs by advising them to their best interests. I also want to make myself available to my students, both inside and outside of class by creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Teaching in high need schools can be demanding and intimidating for many individuals, however with my love of teaching and with the help of future professional developmental skills that I am looking forward to learn from your program, these attributes will challenge me to improve my desire to be a great teacher. This will be a great opportunity for me to share my profession, knowledge, outstanding skills, talents and love for teaching that I have for at risk…
