This book was written by Deborah Ellis in 2002. Deborah Ellis has been in Afghan refugee camps and heard many stories like Parvana's. Its historical fiction. This book cover attracts the reader by the picture which shows that the book based on a country like Afghanistan by the look of the girl clothes and the background like the desert. Parvana's journey is historical fiction and was published in 2002. The story set in Afghanistan where Taliban rules . Parvana is the main character in the novel, Parvana is a confident girl who never gives up hope. The main characters are Parvana and the Taliban. The supporting character are Hassan, Asif and Leila.

A boy tells her to go away or he willshoot her with a gun. Parvana doesn't think that the boy gas a gun. The boy comes out of his hiding place. He tells her that his name is Asif. Asif is a boy with one leg, who seems to enjoy annoying her, but who is afraid on his own and is really good to Hassan.
She also meet Leila. The climax is when Leila dies because she runs into the Minefield to collect food parcels dropped by the airplane. Leila's father and brother went to war and her mother left one day to find them and never returned. She lives with her grandmother near a minefield. The grandmother has given up on life and just lies and sleeps all day.
This book has written by Deborah Ellis in 2002. Deborah Ellis has been in Afghan refugee camps and heard many stories like Parvana's. Its historical fiction? Green Valley is bombed and Leila's grandmother is killed. The children begin to travel again and they are starving . The children find a refugee camp. Parvana is reunited with her mother .
