To some people, life is hard, cruel and merciless. These people see life as punishment throughout their entire lives. They therefore resigned themselves to fate, believing all is finished. They lost every sense of direction and most times, some of them go as far as committing suicide, just to escape the injustice life has meted out to them. Hunter “Patch” Adams isn’t one to escape this dilemma. Having been institutionalized for depression, he soon realizes his profound sense of purpose in helping his fellow patients after ‘connecting’ to them, he wanted to learn about people and help them with their troubles. This event inspired him to become a doctor. He got out of the institution and eventually attending the University of Virginia medical school.
During his stay in the university he found himself at odds with the way of ‘treating’ the patients with his teachers and colleagues, Patch wanted to improve the quality of life of the patients, not just delaying death. He befriended them and fulfilled most of their dreams. Some believes that he has no business in medical school because Rules don’t apply to him. But no matter what problems he encountered he reasoned with logic and ended with a good result.
Patch is one of the greatest men I’ve ever come upon, using his brains and skills in helping people he has become a role model not only to doctors but to everyone who has witnessed his life. He has one way or the other tasted the other side of life but he did not cower. Instead, he was renewed to redefine his goals; he ride on with faith, believing in his dreams, focusing his mind on something, knowing full well that in every black cloud there is always a silver
