Patient Satisfaction: A Key Measurement Analysis
Patient satisfaction is a key measurement for all health care organizations. The selected measures indicate the outcome of the type of care delivered. Quality of work life and employee satisfaction is equally as important as patient satisfaction. Staff member who are able to balance work life and are working in a satisfactory environment will reflect the quality of care they provide. An article in Indian Journal of Public Health states that “Job satisfaction is most essential driving forces for determining the quality of services of health care organizations” (Kumar & Khan, 2014, p 249). A staff that enjoys their job will result in lower turnovers, tardiness and calling in sick which will augment patient’s quality results.

    The quality of health care remains an ongoing concern for consumers, payers, and policy makers. There are a number of national initiatives to measure quality and drive improvements in care. One initiative that has received significant attention is an effort by a group of purchasers known as the Leapfrog Group. (Sultz and Young) Founded in 2000, the Leapfrog coalition includes more than 65 employers and agencies that together purchase care for more than 34 million people. The Leapfrog Group has focused on measuring and reporting hospitals’ adoption of evidence based practices to improve patient safety.
