However, this rigid assignment of roles to the functions of each gender disregards the people who do not fit to their prescribed role. One could argue that this gender stereotype that society expects from men and women, restrain people from functioning to the natural personalities that they excel at. Studies show that “the hierarchical nature of division of labor between the sexes must be eliminated” (Hartmann, 1976, p.137). This is evident to women who are more inclined towards the functions given to a man, and conversely to men with nurturing personalities. Furthermore, the advancement of humanity is stifled by this intolerance of the patriarchal system towards the wide spectrum of advancement underlying in some women who have greater capabilities than men with regards to jobs like the maths and sciences. In a country, the absence of a leader would cause chaos; companies as well would be in chaos without the presence of a department leader because everyone would have opposing and varying opinions. This in turn will cause these systems to function improperly. Just as so, in a patriarchal family, a leader is found in the presence of the father.
