It was the male’s role to supply their families and keep them stable. Young men were educated early for their future, whereas women were often left home and learned how to be a housewife. This left women uneducated which was the norm back then. Women also didn’t have many rights back then which shows that they had a Patriarchal Society.
The last example will date to Rome. During this time Rome was under a Patriarchal Society which left women to have very few rights. Although women had little amount of rights women in Rome did have more rights than most other civilizations at the time. Women still had to be at home and maintain their household. They were not able to vote, join legions, etc. Women had to marry whoever was chosen for them from her Father.
In conclusion, all of the civilizations talked about in this writing has been under a Patriarchal Society. If you look into the modern time period today women have a lot more rights and are more free than ever. Back in ancient times women were left uneducated, forced to stay home, forced to marry someone, and had very little rights. During these times of Patriarchal Society it was the male who was dominant in which they had to do take on jobs in order to keep their families stable economically and in general.
