Patricia And Graham Jacobson: My Hero
A hero in my opinion is someone who is courageous and strong. There are many people that fit my definition of what a hero is, but there is one person in particular I want to talk about. My grandma is my hero because of what she endured at the age of 4. Not every person goes through what she experienced, which is every mother’s nightmare. In 1962, Patricia and Graham Jacobson welcomed a baby girl to the world and they named her Cynthia. Little did they know that the baby they were holding would go through a tragic event that almost take her life. Nearly 4 years later it was there in Sacramento, California where Cynthia Jacobson would earn her title as a hero.
It all started on September 13th when Patricia and Graham Jacobson decided to go out for that evening. Before going out the couple dropped their 4-year-old daughter Cynthia off at a babysitter’s house. Once she was settled the couple left not knowing the horrors to come later that night.

There are many definitions of the word ‘hero’ but Dictionary.com defines a hero as a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities, a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal, the principal male character in a story, play, film, etc. While growing up, I can remember many instances where we were asked to write about and describe who we felt our ‘hero’ was. The common and cliche answer amongst many people is “my mom.” Under the dictionary definition I don’t know that all of my classmates moms, including my own, are heroes.…

What is a hero? A hero to me is a person who is brave, has a bunch of courage and knows right from wrong. You don’t have to have a mask or a suit to be a hero. A hero is willing to help a person at anytime. A hero can kill their enemy with kindness. For an example I believe Jackie Robinson is an incredible, life changing hero. He had been the first African American to play in the Major League Baseball. He had played for the Brooklyn Dodgers. They played him and they had ended racial segregation.…

Everyone has a different definition of a hero. Mine is a person who has impacted my life, or lives in general. They are selfless and genuine people who care about others more than themselves. A hero has no gender, size, or age. Anyone is capable of being a hero, but it’s very rare to find someone who possesses all of the qualities. People like a war veteran, a public figure, or an everyday person are all people who fit my definition of a hero. Irena Sendler, Tyler Joseph, and my mom are prime examples of what I think a hero is and should…
