The Inspirable Patrick Henry Patrick Henry used this quote “ Give me liberty or give me death.” With this quote you can see he wanted to have freedom. Mr. Henry wanted the colonies to fight the British because he knew that was the only way to have rights as their own country. Through his speech he shows many areas of using pathos to his advantage. For the colonies they did not know what was going to happen. Patrick Henry knew what needed to be done. Furthermore if he was not able to persuade the colonies the United States may not have became the country people know today. Using pathos he used anger as a emotion to in a sense, rally the colonies together to fight back. The people joined together to fight them and eventually win the
war against Great Britain. The quote “ Give me liberty or give me death.” Shows how serious he is about freedom and liberty for his country. Another time of Patrick Henry showing great evidence of pathos is in his quote “The great object is for every man to be armed.” In this quote he shows that he wants every man to be ready at all times. Made the people feel safe, secure and ready at all times for anything. Patrick Henry used pathos because it is one of if not the best way to persuade people in your favor. Pathos is used throughout the whole speech but feel as “ Give me liberty or give me death.” was the most influential quote. Lastly he used emotions to show he also has feelings as well and cares about what happens.
