The first solution to stop contradiction is to teach students how to think critically and question their teachers. Freire states, “students turn into ‘containers’ and are ‘filled’ by the teacher” (1). Students assume the teacher knows all and everything they learn is correct.
If students begin to question teachers, it will allow them to understand and internalize information instead of just containing it. Another solution to stop contradiction is for students and teachers to form a partnership. Freire states that teachers must “exchange the role of depositor” and “be partners of the students” (2). Teachers who express the desire to form a connection with students and help students learn on their own; will cause students to become engaged in learning and achieve at higher levels academically.
