Summary of Paulo Freire’s, “The Banking Concept of Education” In Paulo Freire’s essay, “The Banking Concept of Education”, we learn a great deal of the banking concept of Education and. It is with that, that we will analysis Mr. Feire’s essay. Mr. Freire enlightens his readers by comparing the relationship between the teacher and student. As the relationships are compared, we discovered what the banking of concept means. Through this, the reader will learn the dynamics of each role. The central message of Mr. Freire’s essay can be interpreted that, there is much more to education than obtaining the material that a student is taught. Mr. Freire also informs us of the other aspects to education. He concludes his essay with the importance of communication. Through analogies and descriptions, Mr. Friere provides us the reasoning. Early in the essay, Mr. Freire, explains to us, the readers, what the relationship between the teacher and student is. With the roles, there are actions that they exude. However, alone with the roles and actions, Mr. Freire informs us the importance of communication. The essay concludes with communication and how although students and teachers go through the motions of education and the banking concept of education. It is then do we realize that what the student learns and what the teacher teaches is validated by the means of communication. “Yet only through communication can human life hold meaning.     Freire describes the “banking” concept of education by saying that “Education thus becomes an act of depositing, in which the students are the depositories and the teacher is the depositor. Instead of communicating, the teacher issues communiqués and makes deposits which the students patiently receive, memorize, and repeat” (Freire 244). He uses the metaphor of depositor and depositories to relate to a bank.     Last week, I read an article called the banking concept of education which is written by Paulo Freire, a Brazilian author who contributed to the world greatly as an educator and influenced the field of education. What is banking concept? The banking concept is an example to describe a method that students are regarded as a container and to be filled with different kinds of information and knowledge by teachers.
