Pawnshop Robbery
I had a part-time job at a pawnshop. The owner of the pawnshop is my uncle, Uncle John. He treated me nice. He also showed his brave in the incident which happened last year. That day, I was going about my usual routine- counting the money collected for the day. My counter was closed as it was almost closing time for the pawnshop. Suddenly, prickles of goose bumps broke across my nape as I sensed being watched. While keeping my eyes downcast, I scanned the vicinity. Everything appeared normal. There were only a few customers left. Then, my gaze collided with a pair of narrow-silted eyes. Instinct took over and my eyes widened in intuition of what was to come. The man stepped out of the cover of plotted plants and walked towards me. In the next moment, I found myself staring at the end of a pistol. “Robbery!” his loud voice resounded through the entire pawnshop. “Hands up or die!” his accomplice demanded. Silence hung for a minute as time stood still, but it was immediately shattered. Screams punctuated the air as people realized what was happening. Having little choice, they raised their hands and crouched in fear. “I want all the money and gold in this bag immediately!” the robber commanded and slapped a bag at me. I knew I had to do something. While pretending to hand the money over to him, my hand stealthily crept towards the alarm clock under my desk. From the corner of my eyes, I saw the green light flash to red. Momentary relief flashed through me. Help was on its way. The robber snatched the bag of cash from me. My expression had given me away. When he saw me looking down, he realized that I had raised the alarm. “You are meddlesome women! Now you have to pay for your stupid action!” he threatened and raised his gun. A single shot rang out. My life flashed before me. I thought I was going to die. At the critical moment, I saw a blur of dark blue. It was Uncle John! With a flying leap, he pounced valiantly at the robber. They wrestled at

Subconsciously, I knew nothing was wrong, and I had a feeling it had something to do with the money he owed me, yet letting myself push those thoughts out of my brain, I officially had become John’s victim. Not his first victim, though. Far from it. He was a skilled thief, a master manipulator, and without realizing, I had fallen into the center of his trickery. John opened the door just as I had entered his driveway.…

I looked to my left then to my right, it was dark all around, except for the light emanating from the flashlight mounted on my gun. I looked down the alleyway ahead it was fully dark now, I heard running footsteps behind me. I turned around as fast as I could. My brain paved the footsteps ahead of me that I would make when I sprinted down the track. It was as if my brain already knew the exact strides I would end up using. Suddenly my eyes went out of focus. “Set!” My heart stopped. I waited for seconds that seemed like minutes. My trembling body craves for the loud gunshot so I could spurt from the ground gripping me.
