First off, bread is a food that has been eaten for centuries of years. However, pre-sliced bread, which made PB&J more convenient, was done in the early 1900s; by a man, named Otto Frederick Rohwedder. Rohwedder first attempt to the pre- sliced bread became problematic to sell because many bakers were worried that the bread was becoming stale too quickly or simply falling apart when sliced. In his attempts, Rohwedder tried to use pins to hold the bread together after slicing, but that resulted was too inconvenient. His winning result focused in wrapping in thick wax paper immediately after slicing the bread. The success of the pre-sliced bread resulted in high consummations of bread that people ate. The convenient of spending less time cutting the bread was enjoyable and exciting for people. On the other hand, jelly also known as jam, or other fruit preserves has been around for a long time too, going all the way back to at least the first century.
