Professional Development 1 will develop students’ skills in critical thinking, problem solving and collaborative working necessary for professional and academic learning through group and teamwork, interactive class-based activities, team-based projects and a case study approach to business issues.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On completion of the unit, students should be able to:
1.
Identify and appreciate the social, cultural, political, economic and legal dimensions on effective business practice;
2.
Identify, appreciate and develop skills, interests and motivations in individual and multidisciplinary team settings;
3.
Use a variety of information gathering and analysis methods and tools to develop business literacy;
4.
Contextualise information and problem definition;
5.
Define business problems within a problem solving framework;
6.
Apply problem-solving strategies to business issues using effective verbal, written and visual modes of delivery;
7.
Understand the cognitive and dispositional dimension of critical thinking;
