3. Evaluate the validity and reliability of the 2 tests that you have defined. (Word limit: 500 words) (6 marks)
A valid fitness test is a test that measures exactly what it is supposed to measure reliable fitness test when you examine if you can rely on to measure something consistently. An example of both of these fitness tests is if a set of scales that measure your weight is always 10 kg heavier then it would be low in validity and high in reliability.
My first fitness test for the skill related component is power. I believe that it is valid as only as the times were recorded accurately because it measure exactly what it is supposed to measure which is the power of the student. Although I do believe that the reliability of this fitness test is low because the student could be ill, or injured or just not feeling 100% that could make the recording differ. It is also unreliable because the person that is recording the times could miscalculate or could simply write down the wrong digits. Another thing that makes this test unreliable is if it is performed outside then the different temperatures of the sun could affect the students and make it unfair. They could either all do it at the same time in the same temperature or they could take the ambient temperature and if it varies by more then a few degrees wait for it to get hotter or colder or plan testing at a better time.
My second fitness test for the skill related component is reaction time. I believe that this fitness test is valid as it measures exactly what its supposed to measure, which is the time in which the students take to react to certain things. It’s valid because it measures their reaction times to balls, sounds and objects. On the other hands, the reliability of this fitness test is low in my opinion because the student could be ill, or injured or just not feeling 100% that
