First, Dan meets a man that he calls Socrates. When Socrates shows Dan something he thinks is impossible. Dan keeps coming back to learn how it was done. Now Socrates starts mentoring Dan so he can learn self-improvement and how the trick happened. As Dan is being mentored he sees that Socrates is not only doing the “impossible” he is also very wise. “A mentor is someone who sees more talent and ability within you then you see in yourself and helps bring it out.” Socrates saw something in Dan. After Dan was told not to drink, party, or bring girls over he is self-improving himself. “Your life only gets better when you do work on yourself and the rest will follow.” Dan was bettering himself, but emotionally and physically he seemed to be getting worse. If he were to go out with friends he would order a salad and drunk water or maybe soda. The only reason Dan listened was because Socrates told his to and that was his mentor.
