Pearl as symbolism in scarlet letter

In Nathaniel Hawthorne's the Scarlet Letter, Pearl is a symbol of adultery and sin. Being the product of such, she leads Hester and Dimmesdale to the acceptance and confession of their sin. She's the beautiful daughter of the towns adulterist and has mean traits. Pearl is technically the only living symbol of the scarlet letter. She also makes a connection between Hester and Dimmesdale. Initially Pearl is the symbol of Hester's public punishment for her sin. As the book goes on Pearl grows up and represents the deterioration of Hester by continually asking her about the scarlet letter. In a way, Pearl wants ohther to own up to what she did, and does this by constantly asking about the scarlet letter. Another example of how Pearl symbolizes sin is when the town government wanted to take Pearl, and Reverend Dimmesdale convinces them that Pearl is like a living reminder of Hester's sin. Which is basically saying Hester without Pearl is like Hester without sin. Not only is Pearl a symbol of Hester's sin but of Dimmesdale's too. Pearl would not let him in her life until he accepted his sin. She wants him as a father but wont let him until he stops hiding the truth in public. Pearl knows he won't be seen holding her hand or anything in public and that bothers her. She even asks, "wilt thou promise to hold my and thy mother,s hand tomorrow?" Nearing the end of the story, Dimmesdale confesses to his sin and almost immediately feels at-peace and happy. Pearl has longed for her father's public love and affection and when she receives it, at the end, she cries for the first time in the book. In the Scarlet Letter, Pearl symbolizes Hester and Dimmesdale's connection and their sin. It's a great symbol for Pearl's parents as it leads them to acceptance of their sin and brings them together.
