Pearl Harbor
Pearl Harbor The Japanese’s attack on Pearl Harbor was not a surprise attack on the United States, but that it what most people are led to believe. There was a prior attack on a boat in the ocean that they knew was by the Japanese, but the commander just sent fighter pilots to shoot them down, and did nothing following this event. I believe that we made the right decision in not preventing the Japanese from attacking Pearl Harbor, because this gave us a reason for entry into World War II. After researching, I found that even if the Japanese did not attack Pearl Harbor, there were other reasons that the United States would have had to enter the war. It is very difficult to tell what might have happened had this attack not happened. I also believe another reason the United States should not have stopped the attack on Pearl Harbor is because public opinion for entering the war would not have been as strong. Another fact I found to be interesting is that prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, a large portion of Japan’s merchant navy was run by foreign ships, so when they attack Pearl Harbor, they lose these ships, making themselves an easier attack. This is due to the fact that about thirty five percent of their navy was foreign and no longer worked for Japan after this attack. The other side to this argument would be that we let close to 2,500 Americans die during this attack. I believe that this was nowhere near the amount of lives that would’ve been taken if the United States did not enter the war and defeat Germany. Again, this fact is hard to prove considering it did not happen and we are unaware of what the actual outcome would have been, had we not entered the war. There were also many beneficial things that were due to the outcome of World War II. There were new opportunities in store for the American women and they were now able to prove what they were really capable of doing. The economy also rose due to the mass production of war materials.

President Franklin D Roosevelt called it “a day of infamy.” Rising data that is now available shows that Pearl Harbor was not only known about prior to it taking place, it was wanted. Roosevelt’s family has been in the banking business since the 18th century, and his uncle Fredrik was on the original Federal Reserve board. In a journal entry by Roosevelt wrote: “The call into question was how should we channelize them into firing the first shot, it was desirable to make sure the Japanese be the first to do this, so that there would be no doubt as to who were the aggressors.” In the months prior the attack, Roosevelt tried everything to cause anger to the Japanese. He blocked all of Japans import of American petroleum, he froze Japanese assets, he made public loans to China and provided military aid to the British. Providing military aid to the British was in violation of international war rules, for they were enemies to Japan in the war. Three days prior to the assault on Pearl Harbor, Australian intelligence informed Roosevelt about a Japanese fleet moving toward Pearl Harbor, this was of course ignored. On Dec 7th 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, killing 2,400 soldiers. Before Pearl Harbor, 83% of the American people wanted nothing to do with the war. After Pearl Harbor, 1 million men volunteered for the war. As we can see, false flags are a very good way to get the people to agree to war. Nazi Germany was mostly supported by two organizations; one of the more important organizations to remember is IG Farben. IG Farben supplied 84% of Germany’s explosives and even Zyklon B used in the concentration camps to kill millions. A partner of IG Farben was JD Rockefeller’s Stand Oil Company. The bombing of London by the Nazi’s was made possible by a $20,000,000 sale of fuel to IG Farben by the Rockefeller Company. This is only a small example of how these corrupt…

I don't think that the US should have bombed Japan. It was entirely unnecessary and the US had plenty of opportunities to do other things. America could have used a technical demonstration to show how powerful the bombs were on a nearby, but uninhabited, island. This would have been a effective intimidation act while not adding to WWII's already enormous death count. Admittedly this alone would not have ensured Japan's surrender, but Japan was planning on surrendering in the fall off 1945. The only thing that was keeping them from surrendering sooner was their unwillingness to accept completely unconditional surrender. The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki may have ended World War II, but was it worth the lives…

7.) Our government provoked the Japanese to do this to us. The United States began to supply materials to the countries at war with Germany and Japan, but it wanted to remain neutral to prevent and overseas war. Also, we froze their assets in America, closed numerous ports to them, and sending them a hostile note. We're one of the people to blame about Pearl Harbor.…

The attack on Pearl Harbor was an effort by the Japanese government to deal a decisive blow to the U.S in order that the Japanese could invade the Southern Pacific Islands and Australia, to capture and have access to the materials they needed to continue to power their war efforts, because with our fleet destroyed in that region, it would have cleared the way for them to get what they…

Another battleship named USS Oklahoma had lots of big torpedos hit it,with 400 men jumping off of the USS Oklahoma and swimming for their lives. But by the 1940’s the aircraft carries were more important than the battleships. President Franklin D.Roosevelt declared war the next day because of the attack at Pearl Harbor with the japan, but that was not all the U.S was angry with japan for their attitude at China. Japan had declared war with China two years ago in 1937 and they had been fighting way before the attack happened. As stated previously this first topic is dedicated to showing the naive mentality that the United States possessed prior to the bombing of Pearl Harbor. In May of 1940, the main part of the U.S. fleet was transferred to Pearl Harbor from the West Coast (Heritage). There was numerous mooring and docking areas for ships, Pearl Harbor had already long been under construction to transform it into a major naval base (Heritage). From a security standpoint there were two elements that were detrimental for Pearl Harbor (Heritage). The first being that the area was restricted, thus preventing the distribution of its warships (Heritage). The second was that the opening to the sea was a single constricted channel (Heritage). The new arrival of Army and Navy personnel was quite upsetting to the locals of the area (Heritage). The facts are that the fleet’s alacrity was severely handicapped, the security was almost nonexistent, and the overall morale was sadly depressing (Heritage). These problems were being addressed between 1940-1941 (Heritage). Time limitations…

Another example of overlooked specifics is that the raid took place on a Sunday. When planning a surprise attack that will “Awake a sleeping giant” (PRIMARY SOURCE FROM SOMEONE WHO SAID THIS) and hopefully turn the tide of the war, planning it on a day when the base is at its least active is not sensible. If the goal was to be as destructive as possible, then targets must be present. Along with many key American military figures absent at Pearl Harbor, all four of the U.S. Navy’s Pacific Fleet aircraft carriers were not present on the fateful day of the attack either, escaping destruction. (SOURCE 4) Once more, these pieces of evidence go to show that the attack on Pearl Harbor was rushed and therefore not well-structured or prepared.…

One reason someone might think we did the wrong thing by dropping the bomb on Japan is that it killed many innocent people, but if we didn’t many more Japanese and American lives could’ve been lost if the war continued. Dropping the bomb caused Japan to lose thousands of innocent lives that could have been prevented. Another reason is that it might not have been the reason that we won the war. We probably would’ve won the war anyway, by dropping the bomb we just won the war faster than we would have if we didn’t. Finally, America just assumed that people would go inside and hide, but they just watched it come down. People thought the bomb was something else so they rushed out to see it come down. In conclusion the government did the right thing dropping the bomb on Japan because it saved millions of Japanese and American lives.…

The United States was offended for the surprise attack, then began to devise plans to defeat the Japanese and their allies like Germany . This attack led the United States to World War II. Personally I believe that we should not have dropped the atomic Bomb on Japan. The views for this issue is very questionable. Some say it was justified, because Japan bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. However, others would say that it was inhumane. I am part of these people. if I was the president during this time, I would not have release the bomb, unless it was absolutely necessary to bring the end to World War II.…

The attack on the naval base at Pearl Harbor that took place on the December 7th of 1941 was a shocking event for the American public, and had served as the catalyst for the country’s entry into the Second World War. The attack on Pearl Harbor is considered the most shocking event that left a mark on United States’ culture and public awareness before the September 11 attacks. One reason for this is the surprise nature of the attacks and the massive number of casualties. Because of this, most historians and critics, along with the public considered Pearl Harbor as a grave tragedy. This paper goes beyond highlighting how the Pearl Harbor attack is a tragedy; rather, it wants to offer an effective understanding of the circumstances surrounding the attack and the immediate and long-term effects of the attack.…

On December 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked the United States naval station and its associated air defense bases at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. This disaster could have occurred for several reasons. Japanese decoded messages made it clear that war was imminent. It was the fault of the United States government for not providing adequate information to commanders in Hawaii detailing Japan 's intentions. However, it was equally the fault of the local commanders at Pearl Harbor for not acting on whatever information they were provided. The overall cause of the attack on Pearl Harbor was a combination of mutual confusion and miscalculation between government officials in Washington and local commanders at Pearl Harbor.…
