Chemistry in The Pediatric Field

Chemistry in The Pediatric Field 1
Pediatric is a branch of medicine that deals with the development, care, and disease of babies and children. Pediatrics is a young specialty over 200 years old. It became a specialized area of study in the 18th century, when the first children hospitals were founded. Thomas
Sydenham (16241689), the English Hippocrates, wrote on scarlet fever, measles, smallpox, epilepsy, rickets, teething fever, scorbutus, and the chorea, known as the St. Vitus Dance. The first specialty organization was the Society for Infant Therapeutics, formed in Germany in 1883. …show more content…
The first separate pediatrics hospital was founded in Philadelphia in 1855. Later, in 1930, the
American Academy of Pediatrics was established to attain optimal physical, mental, and social health and wellbeing for infants, children, adolescents and young adults. In 1933, the
American Board of Pediatrics was established in 1933 to certify general pediatricians and pediatric subspecialist based on standard of excellence that lead to high quality health care during infancy, childhood, adolescence, and the transition into adulthood. Dr. Abraham Jacobi
(18301919) was a German pediatrician who arrived in New York in 1853 and established the pediatrics chair at the New York Medical College in 1861, organized several pediatric societies, began publication of several pediatric journals, and developed children’s departments in several
New York hospitals. Pediatrics nurses work with pediatrician to provide care for children and adolescents.
They perform physical exams, diagnose illnesses, injuries, and provide child health care education to patients families. Pediatrics nurses also help explain procedures, illnesses,

medication, administer medications, record a child’s temperature and vital signs, update patient records and files, provide advice and emotional support to children and their families, and operate medical equipment. To become a pediatric you have to get an associate degree (ADN) or bachelors degree (BSN). A bachelor’s degree offers the best opportunities for advancement and pay. A master’s degree is required for pediatric nurses who would like to become pediatric nurse practitioners, which allows them to work independently of physicians and give them the authority to write prescriptions.
Advanced training in pediatrics is also a requirement. Will also have to take classes in nursing, anatomy, psychology, physiology, chemistry and other sciences.
All nursing programs include supervised clinical work experience, traditionally in a hospital.
Chemistry is important in the field mostly to read the lab results. During World War II, chemistry was used to save blood samples. Today chemistry is used in the pediatric field to read the results of test for illnesses or physicals.
There are names that come from the chemistical unfinished sentence. In the future pediatrics cross megatrends that will change demographic of children and families, health information technology, medical advances, changes in the health care delivery system, growth in consumerdriven health care, dynamics of the pediatric workforce, disasters and globalism. Also shifts in the United States population demographics, family structure, income, and educational levels will continue to directly affect the health and wellbeing of children. ★ I liked how you went into detail about what the pediatric nurses do, their role in the field,

and your brief history gave me a lot of information, which is good
★ maybe talk about how they are going to change from what they already are now. And also maybe give a few more examples for the chemistry in the field.
