Case 1: Pelican Stores
Pelican stores, a division of National Clothing, is a chain of women’s apparel stores operating throughout the country. The chain recently ran a promotion in which discount coupons were sent to customers of other National Clothing stores. Data collected for sample of 100 in-store credit card transactions at Pelican Stores during one day while the promotion was running are contained in the file named “data pelican stores. Pelican’s management would like to use this sample data to learn about its customer base and to evaluate the promotion involving discount Coupons.
In the spreadsheet data file Items refers to the total number of items purchased and “Net Sales” refers to the total amount ($) charged to the credit card.

The swipe card enables Kudler stores to electronically record the frequency of purchases made by the consumer refiguring the points accumulated during time of checkout. The point system can be explained as so for every one dollar spent with the store one point is accumulated for that transaction. The existing information technology (IT) database the company utilizes is identified as a “customer table” that has each customer’s mailing information regarding the demographics for birthdays and anniversaries. This will need to be revamped to include the points accrued per capita for Frequent Shopper’s cumulative transactions. When the frequent shopper has accumulated the specified range of points determined by Kudler, the reward(s) of their choosing can be redeemed at the nearest store location.…

In order to better understand their customers a statistical analysis and interpretation must be performed. AJ Davis is hoping to achieve insight on how to improve their department store operations and strengthen their customer loyalty. We have taken both quantifiable and qualitative information and have performed descriptive and inferential statistics on the data collected. We do have to disclaim that these are only from a select few from the customer base and does not represent the entire population. Therefore, the interpretations based on the sample group need to be kept in perspective and must not assume complete representation of all customers. After the collection of information from their sample set we have been able to perform statistical analysis and the results are reported below.…
