Abstract
Solving My People Puzzle Phase 1 begins the process of describing and managing my personality. Within this paper, descriptions are given that show what makes me tick. Surveys are given from individuals describing who I am to them. A communication skills test was taken. In the paper, the results are posted along with a DISC profile. All were taken online through assessment questions. There is also a section that describes the “me I see” and the “me I want to see”. This paper is a foundation that is helping me not change who I am but manage and control who I am. Through the various resources, developing the relational style that demonstrates collaboration between me and the counselee is the goal.

Hawkins (n.d.) describes the process of counseling in such a way that it includes concentric circles diagramming self, forces shaping personality, a strategy for intervention, and shaping a response. In phase one, the client does the talking and it is the role of the therapist to listen to their story and to understand what the client is trying to tell them. The concept of personal constructs was developed by George Kelly when he formulated the cognitive personality theory, the Personal Constructs Theory. This theory is based on the notion that individuals categorize personality and behavior of themselves or of others unfailingly; and every individual will respectively categorize the same personality and behavior differently (McAdams, 2006). Like scientists develop theories, individuals develop inner replicas of reality to explain the world that they live in. These models of reality are called constructs.…

When one thinks of a counselor, what ideas come to mind? To advise, to instruct, to counsel? My reaction to counseling in my early days in the profession was to receive guidance from a professional when I did not have the answers myself or when I felt “stuck” with a problem in my personal life that I felt I could not solve. What did I wish to get from seeing a counselor? The question depends on what aspect you are seeking guidance or counsel in your life. The question changed when I began to pursue a career in counseling. The question became “Why do I want to be a counselor? Who do I want to serve? What is it about me that feels that I can be effective at helping people change their lives? The questions continue and Im still seeking my “identity” in terms of this profession. What are the characteristics of a counselor/ What are their varied roles? . This paper will explore the domains of the counselor and the paths I have chosen to pursue to further my interest in this dynamic field.…

In this assignment, you are to develop your own theory of personality. You may draw upon other theories, but it should be an original one. The basic topics that need to be covered in your theory are listed below. Make sure that you support your theory with previous theories, logic, and/or psychological research. The paper should be at least seven pages double spaced; although, you will probably need to go beyond seven pages to explain all aspects of your theory. Papers will be graded based on the quality of the theory and arguments that support it. Make sure that you define and give examples of all key terms. Also, be sure to point out how your theory is different from other theories. The heart of the paper should be: why do people act the way that they do?…
