The true monster is a matter of perspective; human often feel threatened towards “monsters” because they think it might harm or even kill humans. This instinct is not just part of human nature, but it’s part of all creatures. Even animals have a sense of danger instinct that …show more content…
causes them to be aware of their surroundings or sometimes causes them to attack when it feels threatened. The same goes to the “Monster” that “Who is the true monster” article talked about a “Cyclops”. The monster has incredible strength which often inadvertently causes problems. The Cyclops has the natural of desire for blood that cannot be satisfied, which is why the humans are afraid of them and why they form a mob to chase them away. Maybe not all Cyclops are bad, they probably are just need to be understand. Same goes for the Carnivorous animals, which has no choice but have to kill in order to survive. However, even the wild animals such as a lion or crocodile are able to be tamed. “Mere child does not know what is right and wrong”, which means their behavior is dependent on their surroundings while they are growing up.
The author is referring that the true monster is actually the human itself, not by appearance but by personality.
Human perception and how our mind works are sometimes confusing as we perceive something dangerous to us as monster. However, we are the chief cause of certain living beings to go extinct. We are killing them slowly by destroying their habitat and that causes them to suffer until death. We are the only creature that cuts down trees, to make paper and write “Save the trees” and also we force animals from their natural habitat into cages at the zoo for our mere entertainment. We also built factories to make accessories from animal skin for fashion. Imagine that we made a bag out of human skin, we will indirectly say that the owner is a …show more content…
monster.
Nevertheless, over time, human kills each other due to war, cannibalism, fun (Psychopath), power, and even wealth.
This indicates that some humans have personality of monster. Humans always do what is the best for them without considering surrounding creatures. We indirectly can be categorized as a monster in animal’s perspective. Now, when comparing humans with monsters, try to think of humans as the weaker creature. Monster hunts us for our skin and meat, we are being caged so monsters can watch us, and we are being tortured for the experiments. We may say that it’s so cruel without realizing the truth that it is actually the humans that behave and think like
that.
After I analyzed and tried to understand the author’s perspective, I realize that human should reflect and try to be more open-minded. Monsters have their own reasons to behave their way, because every living creature has their own nature, personalities and appearances and we shall not blame them for being what they are. Humans always judge from what they are instead of what is the cause for them to become that way (judge the outcome rather than the process of becoming).
